I read this one last year on KU. Off the top of my head I remember that I enjoyed it, but can’t think of the plot! But for free I grabbed it and I’ll be reading it again this year. Grab this now though, it’s only free today.

Butterfly Save

Check out this book on Goodreads: Butterfly Save https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/59313015-butterfly-save

When this book hit my kindle this morning, I was so happy to have the day off work, because this was all I could think of doing. Weve waited YEARS for this book, and it was worth the wait. I purposely avoided any blurbs or anything that would give story away, I wanted to go into Jonny’s story totally blind. I LOVED Jonny, loved. He and Summer just, gosh I can’t even find words. So, so good. I truly recommend reading in series order. I do think this would be enjoyable as a stand alone, but there are a lot of years of story between Interference and this book, that all the back history will make you love this one even more. We saw Jonny suffer for years waiting for his happy ending. And the bonus story at the end was great, because I was so sad when I turned the page and hit the epilogue. That bonus story eased my pain.

That’s the lengthy review I posted on Goodreads and Amazon, but I feel like I could talk so much more about this book. I turned the ticker off on my kindle as soon as I dove in. I didn’t want to know where I was in the book, I wanted to just let myself be in the story with no distractions. I loved that the title was more than just a hockey phrase. I loved seeing Jonny really be his true self. I loved seeing Summer come out of her shell and discover who she was meant to be. The bonding moments between brothers and family members. I loved how many Prescotts we saw in this story. I loved having a little hint at what’s to come from the author. I will end up rereading this one at some point for sure.

There were a couple of things in here that I stopped to look up. Summer’s profession. I Googled and took a screen shot, I thought it was pretty cool, here’s what I saw.

Then the author posted an inspirational pic on social media, which was cool to give my brain something to grasp while reading.

I hope my review does the story, and the series justice without giving anything away. If you’ve been following me, you know I started rereading so many of Mignon Mykel’s books just to be ready for Jonny. I’m so glad I did, everything he’d been thru was so fresh, like I said, there’s probably a good 12 years from Interference to this one (not counting prologues or epilogues). Even if you don’t know sports, this is an amazing family; read, enjoy, and thank me later.

I’m not sure why she hasn’t bundled the 3rd book in the series yet (27 Refuse to Lose) but make sure you grab it after you read these 2. Between the three book series, you have age gap (but not in a gross, creepy way) falling for the nanny, widow, second chance, just all kinds of good romance. And on top of all of that, it still follows heavily with the Prescotts, so even though it’s a separate series, they all intermingle. Some books run concurrent, some overlap parts, some span long periods of time with flash backs included. I’ve reread all three this week (gearing up for the release of Butterfly Save). And I can say I love these books just as much on a reread years later, which just feels hard to believe. I’ve got one more book to go, A Holiday For The Books (which you do NOT want to read if you’ve not read the whole collection) and then I’ll be officially ready for Jonny’s book.

Getting Real by Emma Chase

I don’t frequently post about audio books, but I got this one to review and it was so good! This is a new to me author, but I love the narrators so I was excited to listen. I loved the story itself, I’m sure it would have been enjoyable to read, but Andi Arnt is my favorite female narrator. Zachary Webber is in the top 3 of male narrators I enjoy listening to, so the two of them together just brought this story to life. I loved the kids, all the interactions, I cried, I laughed so many times, this is one I will definitely listen to again. I know audios are more expensive, but this one was fantastic.

Free box set

The Kait Nolan book is the only one of these that I’ve read (shocker, I know, I’ve never hidden my love for Kait’s books), but I love picking up these sets to discover new authors.

AA collection of five heat-up-the-kitchen romances, including:
CHEF SUGARLIPS by Tawna Fenske
Chef Sean has loved Amber since he wore Batman Underoos, but she doesn’t know he’s alive until she clocks him with a dead turkey. Things heat up for them now that Sean’s back in town, but a family secret threatens to wreck it all quicker than a bull in a bakeshop.
MAKING WHOOPIE by Erin Nicholas
Getting hitched for the health insurance is not this small-town baker’s idea of romance, but after seeing the hospital bill, her heart definitely goes pitter-patter when her gorgeous one-night stand says, “I’m rich. We should just get married.”
STAY A LITTLE LONGER by Kait Nolan
Disgraced chef Athena and organic farmer Logan just might hold the keys to each other’s salvation—but when her old life comes calling, can love win over the temptation for redemption?
CRASH INTO YOU by J.H. Croix
Opposites attract in a big way when an ex-military pilot rescues a sassy Southern chef in small town Alaska.
THE BABY MAKER by Lili Valente
But then one night, Emma Haverford makes me an offer I can’t refuse – she backs away from the land I have my eye on in exchange for a big, fat, baby-making favor… collection of five heat-up-the-kitchen romances, including:

Enemy Dearest & Whiskey Moon by Winter Renshaw

I’ve read a bunch of books by this author, but I’m honestly not sure if I’ve read this one or not, so I went ahead and grabbed it myself. I had just finished reading her newest release, Whiskey Moon, and found that this books was currently free. Whiskey Moon is on sale for its release, and it’s also in Kindle Unlimited. It was definitely an interesting one. It’s listed as a marriage pact, but it’s so much more. This was not a basic let’s make a deal to get married in 10 years if we’re both still single. It’s years of family secrets and deceit and lies and second chances and all that surrounds it. It’s not light and fluffy, but it was certainly interesting. It’s a stand alone, so go ahead and check it out.

Bogie had Bacall. Carrie had Big. I had Wyatt.

The release weekend price is $0.99, next week it will be $3.99 before landing on its final price of $4.99! Always free to read through KU. 🙂

The Calamity by Jennifer Millikin

Holy ach eee double hockey sticks!!! I was floored at this book. Floored. I had to stop and process before I could finish. I loved this whole series and this final book just sealed it altogether. Wow. We’ve seen Jessie throughout and she’s been a great character, but finally in her own book, she’s everything I wanted and more. I cried, I gasped in shock, I had to pick my chin up off the floor. I haven’t read a shocker like this one in a long time. The author pulled off so much in one book, you have to go read the whole series to really appreciate this one.
