This anthology is all new to me authors except for Mignon Mykel. Her book is my sole reason for reading any of these short stories. I want to say, because I had no clue going in, but this is not a Halloween anthology, it’s not magic, or paranormal or anything fairy tale like. It’s all about strong female characters, so don’t be mislead by the title.
Elsabeth – This is part of a brand new series from Mignon Mykel, and it of course involves a hockey player. This is their meet and start to their relationship, and looks like they’ll get a full length book later on and I can’t wait. She’s one of my favorite authors, the long awaited Butterfly Save is supposed to be coming out later this year and I’m really wanting to make time to reread her Prescott books in preparation.
Nova- this was a cute, quick friends to lovers with a comic book background. Since I’ve never read anything from this author, I can only assume this goes with another series. I wasn’t lost, but it was pretty short and not overly specific.
Isla- this story came with a warning so I had no clue what to expect. I definitely wouldn’t mind reading more.
Talia – this one was about a married couple, which I enjoy. I know these are novellas, but there were a couple of parts too rushed and it threw the story off a little. It was more emotional and some people might struggle with the topic.
I enjoyed the stories I read and will go back to read more. Novellas are great at sneaking in a little escape from real life wherever you can.
