When Sparks Fly by Helena Hunting

I’ve read a bunch of hockey books from this author, and when I saw this was friends to lovers, I jumped to read it. I really enjoyed this one a lot, friends to lovers is my favorite romance trope. I never like to give tok much away, but there were some typical romance book things, and some that were different from what I usually read, in away good way. It was funny, emotional, a little sad, a lot sweet, well rounded love story. This proved that Helena Hunting can write more than just sports romance!

I discovered this series on book 3, so when the box set came out I jumped at the chance to get caught up. I enjoyed all 3 books, in fact, I read book 3 again and enjoyed it more the second time having the back story. I love that the couples are not forgotten about in subsequent books. You have mama in each book, the glue that holds this family together. And now I’m seeing there’s a prequal that I’ll have to read before the next installment is released. Below are each of my reviews on the individual books.

SADDLE UP- Since I discovered this series out of order, I already knew about the show going into this one. However, I still enjoyed reading all about how things went down. Ever and Clint fell in love quickly, but it felt plausible.

BUCKED OFF- I enjoyed this one just as much as the first. It’s not quite enemies to lovers, but it is fake fiancé and hot cowboy and a sort of second chance. I liked that Ever and Clint (from book 1) aren’t forgotten about in this book either. I flew thru this one just as fast as the first one.

RIDDEN HARD- This is only the second book I’ve read by this author (the first was part of k Bromberg’s world) This was a pretty quick read for me, I enjoyed it a lot. Tristan was too good for real life! I liked the way he was with both hazel and his family. I mean, his family seems amazing, it’s no wonder hazel felt the way she did. I am super curious about Sam’s story that is hopefully next. I need to go back and read the first 2 books of the series. This is a stand alone, but I definitely want to read how it all began.

So you can see my review for book 3, I loved it the first go round too! Box sets are the best, it’s always cheaper to pick them up this way, plus it’s easier to read when they’re all right there. If you like a hot cowboy, you can’t miss with the Rykers.

The Lie – Kindle edition by Sorensen , Karla . Contemporary Romance Kindle eBooks @ Amazon.com.

I’ve read a couple of the Ward sister books, and I’m not sure where this book falls in the Karla Sorensen reading list. It’s a total stand alone, but there were some familiar pieces that I couldn’t quite place that bugged me some. Don’t get me wrong, it’s works perfectly fine as is, I just felt little details tickle my memory that I couldn’t put my finger on. Anyway, I really enjoyed this book, in a way it felt like it took forever to get to parts, but in another way I felt like it all happened so fast. It makes no sense until you read it, but I don’t want to spoil. Dominic is not the typical bad boy that the world thinks he is, and Faith is the perfect match for him. I appreciated the lie aspect was not the entire book, there was more to it. I would have liked a little more something about Nick and Turbo, that felt almost unresolved to me. Again this won’t make sense until you read it. Overall I enjoyed this a lot (and may have shed a tear or two) and am already looking forward to the next book.

I read Not What I Expected but that’s it so far. I have read a few from Kate Cantetbary, but not the one that’s included here. There are a few authors I’ve never heard of, and a few I’ve heard the name, but never read them before. I always love a box set, and even better when they’re FREE! Check this one out, I don’t know how long it will be free, so grab it now.

Relentless by Adriana Locke

Where to begin! First, I love Siggy Mason. She’s everyone’s dream mother in law. This story was so good, so real. There were some adorable moments, sexy scenes, heartbreak, everything you’re looking for in a romance novel. I liked that the issues they all face are normal, real life problems. It makes the characters so much more relatable. I just loved Shaye, she was so complex, the scene in the bar was just so much, it really made you feel for her. I don’t want to give anything away, but I adored Shaye and Oliver

All Night Long With A Cowboy

I started an arc (advanced reader copy) of this book, and really struggled to get into it. Somewhere around chapter 3 I got bored and actually put it down and read another book. I picked it back up, and in the middle of chapter 4, I still couldn’t get into it. I was going to skim it, but then I just jumped to the last 2 chapters to see how it ended. I’ve never actually done that before, but I’m glad I dis. It was definitely better in those last 2 chapters, enough that it made me go back to read more. Then at about the halfway mark, I stopped, read another book, then came back. I normally don’t feel so compelled to put this much effort into finishing a book, but for whatever reason I did, maybe I felt obligated since it was an arc. The first sex scene was pretty impressive, one of the better ones I’ve read. Not overly graphic, but more poignant, more meaningful to them as a couple then just writing about the act. I did find it interesting that I don’t recall any swearing, yet there was plenty of sex, so you can’t classify it as clean. I ended up enjoying it more than I expected, the ending was really sweet. It was worth powering throug. I ended up giving it 3 stars, which I know a lot of people don’t see it as favorable, but with the rough start, I don’t think it’s a bad review. It could be just me, you may read it and have no trouble diving in.

The Casanova T.L. Swan

I’ve read the first two books in the series and have been looking forward to this one for a while. I was disappointed to start reading it and saw that it was enemies to lovers. Not my favorite. But this was more than that thank goodness. But let me get the complaints out of the way first. There were abrupt scene changes. Several times I was wait, what? Oh, okay. And the messages back and forth, sometimes it was hard to tell who was saying what. They weren’t labeled in any way. It would have been nice to have more distinction.

This book was a page turner. I hope no one gives it away. I pieced together some, but not all, and it still had a wow factor. I laughed so many times, it just took a little while to get to the fun stuff. I ended up enjoying it more than I expected when I initially started it. Not a let down in the least.
