I have to admit, I read this series totally out of order on accident. I read boss in the bedsheets first, thinking it was a total stand, alone. Then I came across the Belle and the beard, and didn’t realize until I finished that, that it was book 3 in the series. So then I came back to this one. It spoiled this book some for me, knowing who Magnolia ended up with, but it was still an entertaining read. And yes, Magnolia dates 2 guys at once. I think I’ve only read a couple of books like this before, but I enjoyed this a lot. It’s not a reverse Harum situation, it’s not that kinky, don’t let that scare you. But it’s fun, and funny, and I really wish I would have read this series in order!
I read Boss in the Bedsheets, unfortunately I read that one forst, a while ago, and Amazon still has my reviews locked up, so I can’t copy that one to here. I can’t remember enough of it to throw something down, except I remember it was hilarious, and even though work place romance isn’t my favorite, I enjoyed it. Now that I’ve read books 1 and 3, I’m very tempted to grab it and reread it.
The Belle and the Beard: I really struggled to get into this one, which bums me out now that I’ve gone back and read book 1. I feel like I should have liked it more. I started and stopped it a couple of times. I don’t even know why I powered thru (and the time I hadn’t read book 1, so I didn’t really have any completest attitude) It was pretty long, and Jasper (and the name, ugh, that was annoying for me for some reason) was really hard to like through most of the book. I liked Linden and his family a lot though. There was a scene that really surprised me about Linden that felt totally downplayed to me, and I dont know, felt weird to me that it wasnt a shocker or anything with Jasper, like I would assume it would be with most couples. I dont want to give it away, but it made me do a double take. When I got to the end I discovered that it was the 3rd book in the series, and I had actually read book 2, but I did not remember or realize that book was about Linden’s brother Ash. I do remember enjoying Boss more than this one from the get go. I laughed more. Clearly me not realizing I had read the book before this means it works perfectly well as a stand alone. But i would 100% recommend starting from the Magnolia Chronicles.
A mixed review of the series, I know, I just can’t say I loved (book 3), but didn’t hate it either. There was some good stuff to it, the conversation Jasper had with her mom, and the last list she made, but it was a lot of just stuff to get to that point. Overall the 3 books as a whole were worth reading. They’re on Kindle Unlimited, so give them a shot. Maybe I missed something on Beard that you’ll appreciate more. Heck, maybe I’ll go back and read it again after I reread Boss.
