Cold Heart Warm Cowboy by Caitlin Crews

I’m not gunna lie, I started off a touch bored on this one. Not so bad that I put it aside, but more of a come on, do something already kind of slow start. It turned around for me though, and I still gave it a five star, although maybe I should have deducted a bit due to the slow start. But maybe I was just in a mood, who knows. I love a good cowboy story, and I have no idea why, I could never cut it! I am not meant to be a rancher or a ranchers wife, that’s for sure! I liked that this story had a believable plot. It wasn’t over the top. The emotions and reactions felt real. As did the life lesson. The ending, oh my was it worth the build up! My heart swooned, it was beautiful. If you love a good cowboy story, this is good. And I should point out that I believe it’s book 2, but I never felt lost, so it’s 100% a stand alone.

This is my official review posted on Amazon and Goodreads, where of course I never like to post spoilers!

This is a slow build, a couple of times a bit too slow, in my opinion. But oh, the payoff, it was well worth it! Just a sweet, sweet, happy ending. Nothing too over the top with the story, no crazy plots, nothing unbelievable or outrageous. This is life and family and what you make of it, your outlook, your mindset. This is the first book I’ve read from this author, but it won’t be the last.

Good Guy (Rookie Rebels book 1)

This is another book I picked up from NetGalley by a new to me author. I hadn’t read a sports romance (especially hockey) in quite a while before I picked this one out. I loved it so much! I hate to say I picked out one inaccuracy in hockey stats, but it’s seriously so minor, I’m not going to elaborate since most readers won’t know. You could tell there was other story before this book. I saw at the end that this is the second series, a spin-off off of another one. So I definitely want to go back and check that out because this was just so good. I have official reviews posted on both Amazon and Goodreads under lady m if you want to read the official report! I can say this, I did NOT expect to laugh so much! Like, my husband kept looking at me like a crazy person, out loud laughs! If you’re a fan of Days of Our Lives, you will crack up too! Now I’ll be on the lookout for book 2.

Hope to be reading…

Meghan Quinn has a new book coming later in August. It’s the second book in a new series. I read the first book That Second Chance from a copy I received from NetGalley. Book two is up for request now, That Forever Girl, and I’m really, really hoping I get approved to read that one too! I’m still fairly new using NetGalley, and have only reviewed maybe a dozen or so books, but fingers crossed I get this one! I love Meghan Quinn, and already loved the first book in the series, so I’m sure I’ll love this second one too.

Currently reading

I keep saying I’m going to get better, to post more often, yet here I am not posting! This is just a quickie while the thought popped into my head. I’m currently reading the Sin and Tonic box set. I’m 3 books into I believe 5, and it’s already more than worth the little .99 price tag! Tessa Layne, Mira Lyn Kelly, R.L. Kenderson, KC Enders and Kayti McGee each contribute a short story, each having a drink to go with it. Some of these are new to me authors, and all of them are new to me stories, so it’s really been a nice little collection. Okay, this should qualify as a check in post, right? And I’m not going to keep making empty promises about posting more often. It’s not like I’m getting paid to do this or anything!

Busy, busy, busy!

Of course I’ve been too busy reading to post, again! But there’s a HUGE sale right now on a Meghan Quinn box set that I had to get out there. This is me shouting from the rooftops! Duets, which is a 4 book set (Blue Line Duet and Perfect duet) both sets for .99!!! Seriously cheap! I know you can read them for free in kindle unlimited, but I loved these books so much, I had to own them – for a buck, come on!!! The sale ends I believe tomorrow so go, right now. In fact, here’s the link

Adrianna Locke

Have I said how much I suck at posting? I have to set myself reminders or something because it’s really hard to get in the habit, to remember to post more frequently.

I found this book on NetGalley not too long ago. I’ve heard of Adrianna Locke from a FB group that I’m in, but somehow hadn’t read any of her books before. That needs to end now! This book was awesome! I was laughing out loud by page two. The characters were great, the dialog was great. I have to go back and read the first book in this series now, and everything else she’s ever written. Just what I needed, another author to obsess over. I have more books than time to read, horrible problem to have, let me tell you. But this book has aa great mix of emotion, and ugh, the end, so fricking adorable, I literally awwwwwwed over a whole scene it was so darn sinking sweet. This is just how I like em: sweet, sexy but not nasty, with a cute couple that banters together, that has fun together, and of course a happy ending.

Jersey Six

I can’t even begin with this one! Jewel E Ann writes some interesting stories if you’ve never read her before. A lot of them have a crazy twist that just shocks your pants off, she is absolutely worthy of a binge read. If you start with the Jack and Jill series and read in order. I think the first book of hers I ever read was One, but it was out of order so there was a bit of spoiler to Jack and Jill. Then, my goodness, When Life Happened! I believe that’s a total stand alone, but I recommended it to to a friend, and she got so mad, she said she came very close to throwing her kindle across the room! It was that kind of book, but I kept telling her, it makes sense if you just finish it. But these are the kind if books she writes. You get so emotionally invested, you feel all kinds of things. And isn’t that the point? We watch movies knowing they’re going to make us cry, so why not read books that do the same? Or make you angry, or shocked or any other feeling?

So back to this book specifically. First, the title. It just broke my heart when you find out where it came from. And this one, you really want to pay attention, because there were times where I was like, wait, what?? And don’t start it before bed or you will never sleep! I felt so many emotions, a true rollercoaster. At one point I was literally on the edge of my seat. And now, knowing how it turned out, I plan on rereading it through eyes that know. I have a feeling it will be one of those books that you see something new, or interpret differently the second time around. Jersey Six is 100% worth checking out, especially if you have kindle unlimited. Which if you do, you have to check out her whole catalog of books! You will have a serious book hangover for sure!

Jersey Six

Oh this book! Serious book hangover type of story. First, where the title comes from just breaks your heart. There is just so much going on in this story, it’s addicting, a page turner, just amazing. It seriously might just be the best book I’ve read this year. It’s romantic suspense, which is not my normal read, but I love Jewel E Ann, so I dove in without a clue as to what this book was about. You don’t want to read too much about it, because trust me, you do not want the plot spoiled at all. This book just goes to unbelievable places, and I was literally on the edge of my seat reading this! Don’t start it before bed because you will not sleep! It was so good, as soon as I finished it, I wanted to start it over and read it again with the eyes that knew what was going to happen. This will for sure be getting read again. I need to digest it a little first though. Its not all serious, there were cute moments, serious ones, sad, sweet, sexy, you name it. But seriously, don’t hesitate. Kindle unlimited is a wonderful thing, but you might just read it there and choose to buy it, just to read again. It’s really that good

How much do you read?

I know I’m obsessive, but how much do readers read? I know there are different levels of reading, casual, sparse, what have you. I sort of consider myself a professional reader. I sign up for so many ARCS that I rarely pick a book just for fun. Not that I don’t like what I read, because I pick and choose most of it, but most of the books I read are what’s due next. I actually have to keep a list to keep track so I make sure I read in order by their due date and don’t miss anything. Sometimes I over book myself and fall behind. An average day I can read 1 book per day. Like I said, obsessive! I’m trying to slow down though because too many times I’ve overextended myself and fall behind. I enjoy it, but I call my reviews homework. Believe me though, I enjoy reading way more than schoolwork, and don’t know how I’d get through a work day without my kindle or a book. But I need to slow it down and choose more of my reading based on what I want to read again, rather than what I need to read. It’s just the dilemma of where to draw the line! Or learn to get paid for it. So back to my original thought, how much does the average person read?
