I’ve been reading more romantic suspense lately, so I was happy to dive into this one. I normally only read holiday books from Thanksgiving to the New Year, but I made an exception for this one. I enjoyed the story and liked Hudson a lot. I love a good protector, but I also appreciate that he wasn’t always so serious. I read both clean and not clean, but as far as romantic suspense that I’ve read, most are not clean. So if you’re an exclusive clean book person, and you’re looking for a romantic suspense-you should enjoy this one.

I’ve been pretty quiet so far to start the year. I will definitely have more to post in February because I have a lot of new releases to review. But until then, check out book 2 from Harper Jackson’s romantic suspense series for free.

2024 Reading Challenge

I have read 174 of 180 books for the 2024 Reading Challenge! What should I read next? http://www.goodreads.com/user_challenges/47331957
It’s that time of the year again! Did you hit your reading goals this year? I fell a little short this year. The last 3 years I had read over 200 books each, so I thought 180 was a safe bet. I haven’t been reading nearly as much at work (skipping breaks and such) so I plan on lowering my number for 2025.
What was your favorite book of 2024? I can never pick just one, especially when I mostly read authors I already know I love. I did branch out and discover author Mac Monroe this year, having read a handful of books when I had Kindle Unlimited.
What is your goal for 2025? What books or authors are you looking forward to reading over the next year? I’m looking forward to Chelle Sloan’s newest Single Moms Guide to Love.

As well as Amy Daws’ Seven Year Itch

Happy reading to all in 2025!

Amazon.com: The Path to Loving Him eBook : Quinn, Meghan: Kindle Store

This book jumps right into it, and it took me a minute to remember the details of the series. I couldn’t forget the Cheweys! Darn MQ for making me cry – twice! And I HATE crying! But my goodness was this a good story. Ryland and Gabby could not have been more perfect for each other, and coming together at just the right time in their lives. I love seeing Mac have such a big part, and all of the supporting characters. Based on the epiloge (which should come with an emotional warning by the way) I’m sad to think this series might be over. In classic Meghan Quinn fashion, you’ll experience all kinds of emotion. Dirty scenes, laugh out loud scenes, and gut punch emotional scenes. I don’t know how she does it, book after book, being true to the characters, and not some generic filler material.
That’s the review I posted on Goodreads, where I don’t like to mention anything spoilery. But if you don’t mind some more, keep reading.
This book is about more than just Ryland and Gabby’s relationship. It’s about so many relationships. Gabby and her brother, their bond, how they grew up. When she goes to see him, that was emotional for me that might not be to a lot of other readers. If you’re a baseball fan, you’ll get it. Even if you’re not, I think you’ll appreciate that experience.
Then there’s the relationship between Ryland and Mac. My goodness there are some moments between the two of them that are so darn sweet, yet they break your heart. I seriously so not know how Meghan Quinn does it, book after book, creating all these real feeling characters that are their own.
Ryland and his sisters have come a long way since the beginning of book one. I enjoyed seeing the two of them and their relationships with their significant others. Looking back now, it does feel like a nice neat wrap to the series, even though I am not happy to see it end. Seeing how far they all came since Cassidy’s death, I get the ending point, but I really will miss it.
This epilogue, unlike the usual, that’s for sure. Have tissues ready because I was absolutely not prepared for it. Not at all. And that is all I will give you on that because you will appreciate it so much more with no spoilers.

These books were a little darker, more violent than I normally read, but I really enjoyed them. Some twists I saw coming, some I did not, and I love that! I think I liked each book more than the previous. Either that or I was just more and more invested as I went. AL Jackson has gotten me more into reading romantic suspense, first with the Time River books, and now these.
I did like that there was a mix of narrators. It helped separate one story from the next. There’s a few of my favorites here, and even the not so favorite, the story kept me listening. I love box sets like this, it’s always more bang for your buck!

What I love about Adriana Locke is that she can write amazing stories about regular people. They don’t have to be billionaires to make an interesting story. Regular single mom moves next door to a regular construction working carpenter. Their problems are relatable because they could happen to any one of us. I’m usually a series reader, but sometimes it’s nice to read a book that stands alone. No waiting for the next installment, no guessing/hoping about who will the next couple be. I loved this book. The relationships between friends, parent and child, neighbor and child, they’re all so important and relevant.
