This book jumps right into it, and it took me a minute to remember the details of the series. I couldn’t forget the Cheweys! Darn MQ for making me cry – twice! And I HATE crying! But my goodness was this a good story. Ryland and Gabby could not have been more perfect for each other, and coming together at just the right time in their lives. I love seeing Mac have such a big part, and all of the supporting characters. Based on the epiloge (which should come with an emotional warning by the way) I’m sad to think this series might be over. In classic Meghan Quinn fashion, you’ll experience all kinds of emotion. Dirty scenes, laugh out loud scenes, and gut punch emotional scenes. I don’t know how she does it, book after book, being true to the characters, and not some generic filler material.
That’s the review I posted on Goodreads, where I don’t like to mention anything spoilery. But if you don’t mind some more, keep reading.
This book is about more than just Ryland and Gabby’s relationship. It’s about so many relationships. Gabby and her brother, their bond, how they grew up. When she goes to see him, that was emotional for me that might not be to a lot of other readers. If you’re a baseball fan, you’ll get it. Even if you’re not, I think you’ll appreciate that experience.
Then there’s the relationship between Ryland and Mac. My goodness there are some moments between the two of them that are so darn sweet, yet they break your heart. I seriously so not know how Meghan Quinn does it, book after book, creating all these real feeling characters that are their own.
Ryland and his sisters have come a long way since the beginning of book one. I enjoyed seeing the two of them and their relationships with their significant others. Looking back now, it does feel like a nice neat wrap to the series, even though I am not happy to see it end. Seeing how far they all came since Cassidy’s death, I get the ending point, but I really will miss it.
This epilogue, unlike the usual, that’s for sure. Have tissues ready because I was absolutely not prepared for it. Not at all. And that is all I will give you on that because you will appreciate it so much more with no spoilers.
