I’ve only read one other book from this author, and it was also part of this series. I enjoyed this. The bedroom scenes were less cringy for me, so that was helpful. There was still the long list of characters that I wasn’t familiar with, but remembering from the last book, I was okay with it. I liked how different Loomis and Keegan were on paper, but when it came down to it, they really were a good match. I won’t hesitate to read the next book in the series.
I ended up listening to the audio after reading the book, and I enjoyed it better the second time in audio. My brain just can’t read in a British accent, so it just felt right to listen to it over how it was reading. If you have to choose, choose audio!

I normally don’t do much dark, morally gray kind of stories, but I’ve really been into this whole series. I listened to the audio as well, but went back and forth, reading Emory’s chapters and listening to Kane’s. I’ve never done that before, but I just couldn’t listen to another Erin Mallon book. I know people love her, but her speaking pattern/cadence just isn’t for me. I had just finished her in Til Summer Do Us Part, which was duet, and a bit easier to take. But since this was duel, I took advantage and only listened to Kane’s chapters. Jason Clarke was a great choice for Kane. He has a deep, booming, authoritative voice, it fit perfectly with Kane’s dark personality. I”e never gone back and forth before, and although it took me a bit longer to read this way, I’m glad I did.
