I don’t come across very many romantic suspense for free. Grab this one today. I gave it an okay review, but the series has gotten better as I’ve gone. If you haven’t read this author before (which I had not before this book), try and keep an open mind without stressing over all of the characters. That’s what hindered my review, it didn’t feel like a book one because of all of the unfamiliar characters.
This was another fun book from Fletcher Mountain! I loved 9 Month Contract so I couldn’t wait to read this one. Normally I don’t care for enemies to lovers, and honestly, because of that, I had a harder time getting into this one than I normally do from this author, but I know it was because of the trope. Once it got going, I loved it. It was fun and funny, and super hot. I loved seeing the sensitive side of Caulder. I loved how it all unfolded, the past to the present. I loved that they weren’t afraid to joke and poke fun and everything in between. Now I anxiously await the next book!

I normally don’t do much dark, morally gray kind of stories, but I’ve really been into this whole series. I listened to the audio as well, but went back and forth, reading Emory’s chapters and listening to Kane’s. I’ve never done that before, but I just couldn’t listen to another Erin Mallon book. I know people love her, but her speaking pattern/cadence just isn’t for me. I had just finished her in Til Summer Do Us Part, which was duet, and a bit easier to take. But since this was duel, I took advantage and only listened to Kane’s chapters. Jason Clarke was a great choice for Kane. He has a deep, booming, authoritative voice, it fit perfectly with Kane’s dark personality. I”e never gone back and forth before, and although it took me a bit longer to read this way, I’m glad I did.
I loved the story. Loved how all the pieces fit. It was a bit instalove for me, and at first, it just didn’t feel quite right. But as more and more happened, it made more sense. The way things took a turn, I couldn’t tell how they were going to come back. Some parts I had a feeling, but some parts were a page turner waiting to see what’s next. I’m already looking forward to more from Moonlight Ridge.

So I just found out yesterday that one of my favorite authors (going back to the beginning of my reading addiction) Kait Nolan, has a new pen name, Kait Flynn. Being as I just learned this, I have not read any of her books yet. One series has already been released and completed, and her new series, book one, comes out June 9th. These books are shorter in length, so I’m guessing it won’t be too hard to play catch-up. But in case you missed it like I did, look her up. All books are supposed to be in Kindle Unlimited as well.
It’s almost a given that any Meghan Quinn book is going to be 5 stars. This one, as far as I can tell, is a complete stand-alone. Normally with Meghan Quinn books, I skip the prologue and dive right into chapter one. I feel like there have been times that it gives too much away, so I’ve gotten into the habit of going back and reading it at the very end. It’s totally not necessary with this book. Don’t be afraid to start with the prologue and read as normal. I loved discovering the new characters, both Wilder and Scottie, but the supporting characters as well. Of course, with any MQ book, there are going to be some crazy, outrageous, hilarious scenes. And some smoking hot ones too! Years ago I read a series set in a summer camp for adults (Camp Firefly Falls). This reminded me of that, only dirtier and a little more crazy. There are some serious moments too, it’s not all fun and games- very well rounded. I just loved every minute of reading this.

I listened to the audio of this one, and Teddy Hamilton was the perfect Wilder! And I loved the duet narration, and having a separate narrator for Sanders (Steven Dexter) made it all the better to follow. I’m not a fan of Erin Mallon, but I still enjoyed listening to this, even after I had read it. Especially the therapy scenes, I was laughing out loud so many times.

There is nothing like a damaged man that so many women think they can heal. Jase is clearly not what he seems, but much more than I expected. I love a marriage of convenience, but I also appreciated all the other relationships in this story. Between the band mates, family, all of it. I liked Hendrix immediately, and she was perfect for the job, and Jase. I read the first book in this series, but did not read Hawkin’s book, but didn’t feel lost at all having missed it.

I did not read book one of this series, (I actually did not finish when I tried reading it) but I’ve read and enjoyed this author before. Let me also say, I’ve never seen Princess Bride, so any references to that went over my head, and I still enjoyed this story.I was here for the trope. I like a pregnant lead, and the baby isn’t his and I don’t come across those as often as I’d like. I was pleasantly surprised that it was romantic suspense adjacent. I try not to know too much about a book before I start, so the ‘she was pregnant with another man’s baby’ was all I knew going in. I enjoyed this a lot. The narrators were both great, sounding good together in the duet style, which I love. I will be watching for the next book in the series that is setting up to be Hugo’s divorced sisters’ story. If you do audio, I definitely recommend this one. This was shorter than I expected, but it was definitely not lacking in anything! I cracked up laughing many times, and just hope you’re old enough, or know pop culture enough to find it as amusing as I did. Tate is a golden retriever hero if I ever read one, even though I’m not a fan of that term, it really fits him. Aurora, as soon as it hit me, my jaw dropped. Maybe others will pick it up quicker than me, but I’m slow. I actually loved these two together, and the age gap was easily forgotten. An Adriana Locke book wouldn’t be complete without fun, family text banter.
