These are my kind of romantic suspense. The relationship and they mystery are pretty equal. Too many books I’ve read, the romance is a fraction of the story. I appreciated the slow burn, and barely qould qualify this as enemies to lovers. Not that I minded that at all, since enemies isn’t one of my favorite tropes. There are some standards to books from this author that I always appreciate, found family, tight friendships, small town, lovable pets. All of it. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

I listened to the audio and both narrators did a fantastic job. I’ve listened to them both separately before, and I love duet narration! There were a couple of editing hiccups I noticed, but I loved this story anyway.

I read the original Cloverleigh Farms books long enough ago that I don’t remember enough details to help me out here. I do vaguely remember Frannie being much younger, and knowing there were similarities to this story, but I couldn’t remember much else. Winnie was so sweet, but I just adored Hallie and Luna! They made this story, I laughed so many times because of them. Dex was the perfect grumpy ogre character. I’m not big on age gaps, but I enjoyed this story a lot.

I’ve read a couple of books by this author, and was interested in jumping into a new series from the beginning. Unfortunately there were still a ton of characters mentioned, I assume from previous series, that I’m not familiar with. Enemies to lovers is not my favorite (nor is age gap) but I love marriage of convenience and another trope that I wad unaware of when I decided to check this one out, and I was pumped about, because it’s not one I come across as often as I’d like, and I really enjoy it. I laughed more than I expected to, and the first sex scene hit me in just the right way because I found it to be one of the better ones I’ve read in a while. They’re always subjective, but something about this one was up there for me. The enemies part wasn’t a full blown hate thing, so that part was good for me, also the age gap was practically a non issue, I even forgot about it. I will definitely be continuing with this series.

I love duet narration. I know it’s more expensive to do, but I love that more and more authors are going in that direction. I’ve listened to both CJ Bloom and JF Harding many times, and enjoyed them both in this book. CJ Bloom does a great kid voice, which I appreciate. I enjoyed the story when I read it, and appreciated it just a little differently when I listened to it later.

This is one of the times I actually prefered the audio over the ebook. That isn’t always the case, but Sean Masters is so good in everything I’ve heard from him. Samantha Brentmoor was good with the male voicing. Not all females can pull it off so well. If you do both, I definitely recommend the audio here.
